Last year I had the opportunity to run my first Boston Marathon although for a different organization. Only a month before the marathon I was hospitalized with a tumor that ruptured in my stomach I was told I needed surgery for a bowel resection and was told I couldn’t run. I was not only in pain but devastated that after all my training I wasn’t going to be able to run. My friend, coworker, and training buddy who was set to run for The Credit Unions Kids at Heart Team stood by my side and said “I’ll support you in any way I can, if you want to run I will stay with you, we will do this together!” Well that’s all it took for me to make up my mind that I was running. Through dreary, damp, cold weather, I persevered and triumphed to my first marathon finish.

The lasting impact from running the 2018 Marathon was having a friend lift me up when I needed it. I hope to do the same for my new team this year and more importantly my new friend Timmy. This year I’m excited to be running the Boston Marathon again, this time for The Credit Unions Kids at Heart Team – We raise funds on behalf of Boston Children’s Hospital. Coincidently, last year my friend’s patient partner was Timmy and this year I am so happy that Timmy is my patient partner!

Timmy has been a patient of Boston Children’s Hospital his whole life. Timmy faces lots of medical issues each day but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying movies, listening to books on tape. He is a huge Boston sports fan! Timmy lights up any room he’s in and I love to see him smile!

With your donation, you will not only be helping fund much needed research for Cerebral Palsy, Moyamoya Disease, Sturge Weber Syndrome, Pediatric brain cancer and Pediatric Epilepsy but you will be helping to provide hope to the families.
